I am going to veer away from the timeline this week and share with you a wedding we had a lot of fun being a part of. Meet Lindy and Mike, two outdoors loving people. Their winter themed wedding was a rustic winter wonderland in Banff, incorporating a beautiful colour palette of silver, brown and shimmery bright white. Their magical day was captured perfectly by Kirstie Tweed of Orange Girl. See what Lindy has to say below, about the inspiration behind her big day and her experience working with a Consultant on her wedding stationery.

SG: Was there a theme for your wedding that you wanted to bring out in your wedding stationery?

LS: I really love neutral colours and I knew that being a winter wedding, there had to be silver. I had fun picking the colours with Anne. We laid out several options across the table and found the best colour matches. As or the image, I wanted something that reflected our love for the mountains. Mike and I spend our weekends in the winter skiing and mountain biking in the summer. We love the mountains and incorporating the mountains graphic into our invitations made them fun yet elegant, a theme we were going for.

SG: What about your wedding were you most excited to see?

LS: I was excited to see everything! But if I have to pick a few, I was most excited to see the Save the Date cards and wedding invitations, as I had been waiting for this day since I was a little girl. The Save the Dates turned out so perfect that I could not wait to see the rest of the stationery for the wedding day. The other that I was most excited to see was the transformation of the Juniper Hotel. Mike and I stay there regularly and I couldn’t wait to see it all set up and decorated for our wedding.

LS: We wanted all of our guests to have a Favour Bag in their room upon their arrival. We put together bags containing items Mike and I both love from different places in surrounding areas. The bags contained pop from The Grizzley Paw Brewery in Canmore, chocolate bars from Le Chocolatier in Canmore, roasted nuts from Going Nuts in Calgary, a tin of mints from Beaucoup Wedding Favours (online), and hand and foot warmers from Costco.

LS: Having Notables create all of our stationery was wonderful. I had a great time working with Anne and the whole experience was fun, easy and not stressful at all. Anne was very flexible, as I live in Calgary, and her suggestions were fantastic. It was very calming knowing that I would not have to worry about my stationery. The invitations themselves got so many compliments, everyone commented that they were beautiful!

SG: What advice would you give to another bride that you wish you knew before starting the invitation process?

LS: Have an idea of the colours you wish to use and theme you are going for. I gave that information to Anne and she showed me invitation suites based on my interests. Otherwise, I think it would be very overwhelming and stressful.
