Wedding Wednesday: Married Away Recap

We had so much fun this weekend at the Marriott River Cree participating in the Married Away Destination Expo. Aside from it being a wonderful afternoon filled with wedding professionals, the great thing about this show in particular was that it targeted destination weddings! Whether you plan to get married underwater in Cozumel or somewhere in our beautiful Rocky Mountains, destination weddings always involve a bit more planning and the help of industry professionals.

Emily Post’s wedding etiquette says that wedding invitations should go out 8 to 10 weeks ahead of the date. Granted, our lives have become so much busier, even extending it to 12 weeks would be acceptable.

But you are going further afield. Your guests may need to book vacation time as well as make flight and hotel reservations. Your guests need to know about your wedding further ahead. The best way to do that is…

A Save the Date! A Save the Date is an early courtesy extended to your guests. It can go out as early as 8 months before the wedding. It can be a fun piece that lets everyone know you are getting married in the Dominican, or it can be the first glimpse of the whole theme of your wedding. In a bow to technology, a Save the Date is also a great place to add your wedding website. A good website is particularly important for a destination wedding. It is the place to include all of your destination information, links to the travel agent who may be assisting in travel arrangements, things to do and so much more. A Save the Date goes to all of the guests that will receive an invitation.

Now, how do you want to invite your loved ones to share this special occasion with you?

Your invitation sets the tone of your special day. It is a reflection of all the vision and hard work you are putting in to make this day special for you and your guests.

Picture this – you come home from a long day at work, open your mailbox and together with the usual flyers and odd bill, you find an interesting looking envelope beautifully addressed to you. Tell me you don’t get a little bit excited; turn it over to find out who it’s from! It’s without a doubt the first thing you open. That is the feeling you want to send out with your invitation – it’s a personal invitation to your guest.

With so much information to know, why wait any longer? Book your appointment today with one of our consultants to get started on your wedding stationery!
