Dogs at Work

To look at her, says Suzanne Davis, you’d think 15-year-old Chela was just a puppy. The only thing that gives the dog’s age away is the grey around her muzzle. “Everybody thinks she’s a puppy,” says Suzanne. Well, not everyone. Regular customers know Chela’s real age, mostly because they’ve been coming to Suzanne’s store, Notables Stationers, for years. They keep coming back because they’re satisfied customers, first and foremost, but they also drop by to see Chela and her other canine friends. On any given day, there can be as many as three dogs “working” at Suzanne’s pet-friendly store, greeting customers and making them feel at home.
